Cokes or Diet Coke? Which is Better For You?

So again here is another little weight trick that I want to share with you. After I had stopped playing professional soccer it’s safe to say I didn’t exercise as much and put on a few of those unwanted pounds. I had always drank Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Sweet Tea (Come on though I’m a Southern boy it’s in my blood).

Most people think that dieting just consists of watching what kind of food intake you have but they don’t realize the drastic effects of what liquids can have on your body. Well to be honest if you want to the pounds drop off almost immediately you should cut back on the sweets but one of the easiest ways is by cutting out sodas.

Without even changing up my dieting, I stopped drinking Coke’s and sodas and lost about 20 pounds in just a couple of months. How is this possible?

Because regular Coca-Cola contains so much sugar and that is immediately stored as fat in your body.

Additionally, I have lots of girl friends that are amazingly addicted to Diet Coke because they think, well it contains no calories so it must be ok. Wrong. Dead wrong. People don’t realize that Diet Coke contains large amounts of Aspartame which kills neurons in brain cells. To make a long story short here’s the side effects of long term exposure to Aspartame.

• Multiple sclerosis (MS)
• ALS
• Memory loss
• Hormonal problems
• Epilepsy
• Parkinson’s disease
• Alzheimer’s disease
• AIDS
• Dementia
• Hearing loss
• Hypoglycemia
• Neuroendocrine disorders

It’s a fact of the matter that artificial sweeteners like Aspartame are just flat out bad for your health and up until a few years back nobody had thought other wise. If you need to sweeten a drink up I would recommend the natural sweetener Stevia or also honey has great organic benefits.

So now that you understand about the side effects of drinking sodas how can we fix that? Well, first off if you are really serious about losing weight easily and being more healthy then I would lay off the sodas completely. Unless of course you drink club soda with a lime like I do.

When I first laid off sodas I switched to water and club soda. I saw a change in my weight almost immediately. All those sugars hold up water weight in your body too so you tend to stay a bit more bloated and retain pounds without burning them off.

Another thing you should try is whey protein. I’m guessing if you are here then you’re really serious about losing weight and one of the best ways is from whey protein. I recently wrote a great article I want you to read over here about whey protein weight loss. I can guarantee if you want to lose weight and stay healthy.
